Omschrijving
St. Jacobus de Meerdere, 1906-1907 door J. Th. J. Cuypers en Jan Stuyt. Driebeukige KRUISBASILIEK met centraliserende aanleg, waarbij de kruising bekroond wordt door een ronde koepel. Naast de westgevel een hoge klokkentoren.
Interieur als schoon-werk behandeld baksteen met banden van verglaasde terracotta. Koor en zijkapellen hebben halfronde sluitingen. Belangrijk voorbeeld van vernieuwing in de kerkelijke bouwkunst.
Tot de inventaris behoren een barokke preekstoel en een in barokstijl gesneden orgelgalerij. Voorts 18e eeuwse beelden. Eikenhouten communiebank, 18e eeuw; twee biechtstoelen eerste helft 19e eeuw; eikenhouten preekstoel in barokke stijl, 17e eeuw; heiligenbeelden, hout, 18e of eerste helft 19e eeuw; H. Lucia, St. Franciscus Xaverius, St. Franciscus van Assisi, een heilige monnikfiguur, St. Anthonius van Padua, St. Jan de Evangelist, Petrus, Paulus St. Vincentius a Paulo (?), St. Willibrord (?), vier eikenhouten engelenfiguren, reliëf van een engel, St. Leonardus van Veghel.
Voorts een albasten doopvont, eerste helft 19e eeuw; 14 in hout gesneden kruiswegstaties door A.M. van der Geld te Den Bosch, 1898. Schilderijen, 18e eeuw: Vier schilderijen met bustes van de Evangelisten, kruisiging, Maria met Kind en kleed en een rozenkrans gevend aan resp. de H. Simon Stock en St. Dominicus, Verrijzenis, Christus in de Hof van Olijven, Geseling, Doornenkroning, Christus en de wenende vrouwen, Hemelvaart, Maria's ten Hemelopneming, Ontmoeting van Maria en Elisabeth, Opdracht in de tempel, Jezus als leraar in de tempel, Maria Magdalena wenend bij het Kruis. Gaaf pneumatisch orgel met Hoofdwerk en Zwelwerk, in 1900 gemaakt door M. Maarschalkerweerd. Mechanisch torenuurwerk, voorzien van elektrische opwinding, buiten gebruik gesteld. Nabij de sacristie een klok van G. Moer, 1482, 66,5 cm. In de kooromgang zeer oude klok van anonieme gieter.

Description
St. Jacobus the Greater, 1906-1907 by J. Th. J. Cuypers and Jan Stuyt. Three-aisled cruciform basilica with centralising layout, with the crossing crowned by a round dome. Beside the west facade a tall bell tower.
Interior treated as exposed brickwork with bands of glazed terracotta. The choir and side chapels have semicircular terminations. Important example of renewal in ecclesiastical architecture.
The inventory includes a baroque pulpit and an organ gallery carved in baroque style. Furthermore 18th-century sculptures. Oak communion rail, 18th century; two confessionals first half 19th century; oak pulpit in baroque style, 17th century; wooden saints' images, 18th or first half 19th century; St. Lucy, St. Francis Xavier, St. Francis of Assisi, a saint monk figure, St. Anthony of Padua, St. John the Evangelist, Peter, Paul, St. Vincent de Paul (?), St. Willibrord (?), four oak angel figures, relief of an angel, St. Leonard of Veghel.
Furthermore an alabaster font, first half 19th century; 14 wooden carved stations of the cross by A.M. van der Geld of Den Bosch, 1898. Paintings, 18th century: Four paintings with busts of the Evangelists, crucifixion, Mary with Child and cloth and a rosary being given to respectively St. Simon Stock and St. Dominicus, Resurrection, Christ in the Garden of Olives, Scourging, Crowning with Thorns, Christ and the weeping women, Ascension, Assumption of Mary, Meeting of Mary and Elizabeth, Presentation in the Temple, Jesus as teacher in the Temple, Mary Magdalene weeping at the Cross. Fine pneumatic organ with Great Manual and Swell, made in 1900 by M. Maarschalkerweerd. Mechanical tower clock, equipped with electric winding, out of service. Near the sacristy a bell by G. Moer, 1482, 66.5 cm. In the choir ambulatory a very old bell by anonymous founder.
