Omschrijving
RAADHUIS. Eenvoudige baksteenbouw in klassicistische geest, met hardstenen plint, door een fronton bekroonde middenrisaliet en geblokte hoekpilasters. In het fronton het wapen der gemeente: in het fries van het hoofdgestel daaronder het jaartal MDCCLXXVI (1776). Mogelijk heeft Philip Willem Schonck (bouwmeester van de toren der Ned. Herv. Kerk te Etten, van het stadhuis van Breda, het Arsenaal van Willemstad) het ontwerp geleverd. Het gebouw wordt bekroond door twee van tentdakjes voorziene hoekschoorstenen en in het midden een houten dakruiter met koepeltje. De oorspronkelijke ramen zijn omstreeks 1830 vervangen door zesdelige schuiframen. Gerestaureerd in 1963.

Description
TOWN HALL. Simple brick construction in classical spirit, with ashlar plinth, central risalit crowned by a pediment and blocked corner pilasters. In the pediment the arms of the municipality: in the frieze of the main entablature below it the year MDCCLXXVI (1776). Philip Willem Schonck (master builder of the tower of the Dutch Reformed Church at Etten, of the town hall of Breda, the Arsenal of Willemstad) may have provided the design. The building is crowned by two corner chimneys fitted with tent roofs and in the middle a wooden roof lantern with cupola. The original windows were replaced around 1830 with six-part sash windows. Restored in 1963.
