Omschrijving
HUIS "de Zwaan". Kort na 1628 gebouwd voor Jan Dirven, notaris en substituutsecretaris, later secretaris van Etten. Het huis is overdekt met twee evenhoge zadeldaken loodrecht op elkaar, het langste evenwijdig aan de straat; zowel aan de voor- en achterkant als aan de zuidelijke zijkant, worden deze door trapgevels afgesloten. De onderpui is herhaaldelijk gewijzigd. De gevels zijn van gele baksteen opgetrokken. Boven in de trapgevel aan de straatzijde vensters met geprofileerde kanten van rode steen, korfbogige ontlastingsbogen met uitgekraagde deklijsten op kopjes en vlechtingen in de boogtrommels van rode baken en witte natuurstenen met diamantkoppen in zwart. Geprofileerde waterlijsten; met natuursteen afgedekte treden aan de trapgevel; nieuw aangebrachte kruiskozijnen; vijf krulankers. Toppilaster met natuurstenen voluten. Gerestaureerd in 1957.

Description
HOUSE "de Zwaan". Built shortly after 1628 for Jan Dirven, notary and deputy secretary, later secretary of Etten. The house is covered with two equally high gabled roofs perpendicular to each other, the longest parallel to the street; these are closed off at both the front and back and on the southern side by stepped gables. The ground floor has been repeatedly altered. The facades are constructed of yellow brick. Above in the stepped gable on the street side windows with moulded edges of red stone, barrel-vault relieving arches with cantilevered drip mouldings on corbels and herringbonepattern in the vault spandrels of red brickwork and white natural stone with diamond-headed bosses in black. Moulded drip mouldings; steps at the stepped gable faced with natural stone; newly installed cross windows; five wall anchors. Cornice pilaster with natural stone volutes. Restored in 1957.
