Omschrijving
RUINE van het Huis te Merwede. Overblijfsel van het kasteel der Heren van de Merwede ten noordoosten van de stad. Verwoest waarschijnlijk bij de St. Elisabethsvloed in 1421.
De ruine bestaat uit een gedeelte van een zware donjon (XIV), aan de buitenzijde versierd met vlechtwerkplatronen van verglaasde steen. Uitgekraagd spietorentje en resten van een gemetselde trap.
Objecten van algemeen belang wegens bijzondere oudheidkundige en kunsthistorische waarde.

Description
RUIN of the House at Merwede. Remnant of the castle of the Lords of Merwede to the northeast of the city. Destroyed probably during the Saint Elizabeth's Flood in 1421.
The ruin consists of a section of a heavy donjon (14th century), decorated on the outside with lattice-work panels of glazed brick. Projecting spy turret and remains of a masonry staircase.
Objects of general importance due to exceptional archaeological and art historical value.
