Omschrijving
Het in XVIIIa naar ontwerp van Menno van Coehoorn buiten de oude grachten aangelegde Retranchement van Doesburg, te verdelen in de Hoge Linie, oostelijk van de stad, bestaande uit zes of zeven lunetten met redouten op de vleugels en de Lage Linie, zuidelijk langs de Oude IJssel , die vijf lunetten omvatte. De Hoge Linie werd bovendien in 1807 van batterijen voorzien. Deze laatste reeks vestingwerken is goed bewaard en gerestaureerd in 1948-'49 onder supervisie van de stichting "Menno van Coehoorn".

Description
The Retranchement of Doesburg, laid out in the first quarter of the 18th century to the design of Menno van Coehoorn outside the old moats, to be divided into the Hoge Linie, east of the city, consisting of six or seven lunettes with redoubts on the wings and the Lage Linie, southerly along the Oude IJssel, which comprised five lunettes. The Hoge Linie was furthermore fitted with batteries in 1807. This latter series of fortification works is well preserved and restored in 1948-'49 under the supervision of the foundation "Menno van Coehoorn".
