Omschrijving
De in 1892 gebouwde watertoren in neo-renaissance-stijl. Ontwerp: J.A. Mulock Houwer, destijds gemeente-architect te Deventer. Uit paars-rode baksteen opgetrokken toren, 53 meter hoog, rustend op een onderbouw van basaltblokken en uitgerust met een uitkragend z.g. Intze-reservoir; het geheel bekroond door puntdak met aardig gedetailleerde dakkapellen, belegd met shingles, koepelvormige lantaarn belegd met leien en een balustrade en windvaan in de vorm van een zeemeermin.
Verlevendiging van het metselwerk door o.a. natuurstenen cordonlijsten, speklagen, sluitstenen en consoles; toepassing van siermetselwerk in de velden der gedrukte ontlastingsbogen; de verschillende deur- en vensteropeningen liggen iets terug in het muurvlak. Gesmede sierankers; gedenksteen met opschrift en datering 31 mei 1892.

Description
The water tower built in 1892 in neo-renaissance style. Design: J.A. Mulock Houwer, municipal architect in Deventer at the time. Tower constructed of purple-red brickwork, 53 metres high, resting on a substructure of basalt blocks and equipped with a projecting so-called Intze reservoir; the whole crowned by a pitched roof with nicely detailed roof dormers, covered with shingles, dome-shaped lantern covered with slates and a balustrade and weathervane in the form of a mermaid.
Enlivening of the brickwork by among other things natural stone drip mouldings, ashlar courses, voussoirs and corbels; application of decorative brickwork in the fields of the depressed relieving arches; the various door and window openings are slightly recessed in the wall surface. Wrought-iron ornamental wall anchors; commemorative stone with inscription and dating 31 May 1892.
