Description

1. R.C. CHURCH St. Petrus Stool in Antioch. Late Gothic cruciform basilica, consisting of a 15th-century nave (fallen into ruin in the 17th century, rebuilt in 1823-1827), an early 16th-century transept, a three-sided closed choir with ambulatory from circa 1500 and a tower from the end of the 15th century. On the north side of the choir ambulatory a sacristy of two storeys and a chapel under one roof (circa 1500) and to the east of this a second sacristy and the three-sided closed Holy Blood Chapel, built in 1561 according to a date on the vault keystone. In the transept and Blood Chapel net vaults, in the ambulatory and sacristies cross-rib vaults, in the choir and nave cross-rib vaults of stucco. Tower with masonry reinforcements mitered at the corners in the lower storeys, pilasters and chamfered buttresses at the bell storey; the high spire built by Master Han Cornelis Schutkens of Liemd (died in 1627). Restored in 1925. Three-manual organ by R.C. Smits from 1842. In 1956 a free Pedal was added according to a design by Smits. Oak communion rail and pulpit from the early 19th century, oak St. Peter statue from circa 1550; 16th and 17th-century gravestones.
