Exterior description and setting

Small, single storey house set on the E side of the Killinchy Road c.3 miles N of the village of Killinchy. This house has been completely ‘modernised’ in recent years.

Front W facade has a left of centre glazed door with a modern window to the left and two to the right.

Both gables are blank.

The rear is completely taken up with a large, single storey, flat roofed extension with modern windows and door.

The entire facade is covered in pebbledash render. The main roof is gabled and covered in asbestos free slates.

Three small brick chimney stacks, PVC rw goods.

Two wells to rear.

Historical information

A building is shown on this site on the OS map of 1834 and 1859-60. The valuation returns of c.1835 state that the ‘house and office’ was in the then possession of an Andrew Johnston. The large rear extension appears to have been added in stages from the 1970s onwards. The thatch was removed in 1984.
