Exterior description and setting

Small single storey house set a short distance back from the SE side of the Quarry Road, c.3 miles NW of the village of Killinchy.
Front N elevation has a right of centre flat roofed porch with modern glazed door. To the left of this are two large windows with modern frames (once double sash windows). To the right of the porch is a smaller window with another large window to the far right (both with modern frames as before).

The E gable has two square-ish windows with modern frames. The W gable has a lean to store section attached, with corrugated iron roof.

The writers were unable to get a straight on view of the rear, but there appeared to be a large flat roofed extension.

The facade appears to be mainly covered in roughcast and painted. The main roof is gabled and covered in corrugated iron, with four rendered chimney stacks. PVC rw goods.

Historical information

A house is shown on this site on the OS map of 1834 which the contemporary valuation records note was in the hands of a Widow McKee. By the time of the second valuation (1861) the property was in possession of a Robert Watt, who leased the building and some surrounding land from the Marquis of Londonderry. The large windows (which had double sash windows when first surveyed in 1974) suggest the building was renovated in the early decades of the twentieth century.

Small single storey house of probable pre 1834 origin, but now with many large modern windows and corrugated iron roof. There also appears to be a large modern extension to the rear.
