The Department's description

Site (on the S side of the Saintfield Road c.1.5 miles W of the village of Killinchy) of former single storey thatched house, demolished c.1987.

First survey record: 'Single storey cottage. Roof thatched, gable ends. Chimneys rendered. Wall rendered and whitewashed. North front has 3 small double hung windows, no astragals. Sheeted door between windows 2 and 3 with 3 stone steps. Recent shed addition at left hand. Condition fair to poor. Front about 48 feet.'

A building is shown on this site on the OS maps of 1834 and 1859-60, which probably corresponds to the dwelling standing here until recently. No mention of the property appears to occur in the first valuation records of c.1835, but he second valuation of c.1861 noted that the building contained two dwellings in possession of Isabella and Elizabeth McVeagh, who leased them from a Samuel Lowry.
Local residents state that the house was demolished c.1987.
