The original house was described in the first survey of 1971 as: ' Two storey farmhouse with adjoining farmyard and outbuildings. Roof slated. Gable ends, cement barges. Chimneys rendered. Walls rendered and lined. Bevelled quoins. Three first floor drop hung [sash] windows, horizontal astragals [glazing bars]. Two ground floor drop hung windows, Georgian panes. Central doorway, recessed elliptical arch head, bevelled in and out band surround. Decorative fanlight. Two pane sidelights, panelled door. Bevelled base course. Condition fair.
