Exterior description and setting

Two storey recently renovated farmhouse situated on the Manse Road just to the SW of the tiny village of Glastry, with aluminium windows, conservatory, limestone chip render, large two storey return and lean to garage.

Front (NW) facade has slightly off centre aluminium and glazed door with similar large two pane attached ‘sidelight’ to left. Modern style two pane aluminium window to left of doorway with another to right. Three windows as before (but slightly smaller) to first floor.

Attached to NE gable is a lean to garage extension whose NW facade is now obscured by a tall castellated wall which is flush with front of house.

Rear has two storey pitched roof return with assorted aluminium windows of various sizes. Windows to rear of main house as front. Large aluminium conservatory between return and left side of rear of main house.

Entire house (and castellated wall) finished in limestone chip render with smooth cement surrounds to windows, and to base, edges of wall and as course high to gables.

Roofs gabled and pitched with Bangor blue slates and stone parapets. Two concrete brick chimney stacks to gables of main house. PVC gutters and down spouts.

Low rendered wall to front of house. Rubble built out house to rear. Modern farm buildings to NE.

Historical information

This house is shown on the OS Map of 1834 and that of 1860 without the return and with a larger complex of farm buildings. Until recently the front facade had a decorated doorway and some simple surrounds to the windows in the style of c.1850-60.

Completely modernised two storey farm house of probable mid 19th century origin, now with aluminium window frames and doors, elarged entrance, pebbledash and PVC conservatory.
