The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Two storey gabled terrace with house and shops at the N end of Main Street, Kircubbin.
Front NE elevation of No.47 has sliding sash and case window to left with simple moulded surround with timber panelled house door to right, with similar surround and keystone.
No.45 has a larger facade with large modern shop front with glazed door at left and large shop window to right, with large PVC sign over.
No.43 has a small facade with modern simple office front with plain timber sheeted door at left and large fixed light window to right and blank timber signboard over.
First floor No.47 stretches over shop at No.45 (‘flying lease’) and has four windows as ground floor No.47.
No.43 has a similar window to No.47, but the upper pane has been boarded up. Cill course to entire first floor of terrace. Exposed NW gable of No.43 blank, but has a curved corner which bends into rear. Large two storey gabled return to rear of Nos.45-47, with smaller flat roofed extension, with modern windows and doors to rear of entire terrace. Front facade of terrace finished in plain render with chamfered quoins and plinth and painted. Exposed gable and rear finished in lined render but unpainted. Roof of entire terrace pitched with Bangor blue slates and three yellow brick chimney stacks. Large warehouse/workshop to rear of terrace with curved roof.
Historical information
This terrace is shown in a photograph of Main Street taken in c.1910, but without the shop and office, which appear to be recent alterations. The brick construction of this terrace, the curvature of the wall to the rear and the decoration to the door and windows, suggest a construction date of c.1900.

Evaluation
Much altered two storey terrace of c.1900. Originally this terrace consisted of three dwellings, but Nos.43 and 45 have been converted to an office and shop respectively and the grouping as a whole has little remaining architectural merit.
