The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Demolished and not replaced, and the site now occupied by a roadway.
Described in the first survey in 1970 as "An L-shaped house, two storeys high, five bays wide on each façade. The walls are rendered and the roof is slated. All windows but one, which is plain sashed, have full glazing bars on the Ballymena Road elevation, and, all but two, which have coloured glazing, have full glazing bars on the Randalstown Road elevation. Both entrances are surmounted by segmental-arched fanlights, that on the Ballymena Road side has radial glazing."
Historical information
Precise date of building not recorded but part of it appears on the OS map of 1832, the rest appearing on the OS map of 1857. It may be presumed to have been mainly built in the mid-19th century. It became a convent for the Sisters of St Vincent around 1920.
