Exterior description and setting

Second house from right in a terrace of four similar three storey/ two bay late 19thC houses facing the sea on NW side of street.

Pitched natural slate roof with rendered chimney to right end. Modern skylight to front pitch. Moulded advanced eaves course carries ogee aluminium gutters.

Front wall is rendered and painted, with band rustication to ground floor and lined to upper floor. Chamfered basecourse and continuous moulded cill courses to the upper floors. Left bay is narrower than the right one and contains the main entrance in a semi-elliptical headed opening with lined voussoirs. Two-panelled door has glazed sidelights (with aprons). Consoles carry a timber entablature below a fanlight with roundel inset. Directly above is a single 1/1 top-hung uPVC window to each upper floor. That to first floor has a moulded architrave, and that to second floor is slightly diminished in height.

The right bay has a canted bay window rising full height, with canted roof tied into main roof and sharing common eaves. Each face of the bay window has a 1/1 top-hung uPVC window. Those to first floor have moulded architraves and those to second floor are slightly diminished in height.

A rendered dwarf wall encloses front garden. Modern tiled path and no gate.

Left gable forms party wall with 3 Seaview (HB16/12/022B).

Right gable forms party wall with 5 Seaview (HB16/12/022D).

Rear elevation was not inspected.

Although this terrace house has been altered, its height and scale add to the character of the building along the sea front.
