Exterior description and setting

House at right end of a terrace of four similar three storey/ two bay late 19thC houses facing the sea on NW side of street.

Pitched natural slate roof with rendered chimney to right end. Modern skylight to front pitch. Moulded advanced eaves course carries ogee metal gutters.

Front wall is rendered and painted, with band rustication to ground floor and lined to upper floor. Chamfered basecourse and continuous moulded cill courses to the upper floors. Left bay is narrower than the right one and contains the main entrance in a semi-elliptical headed opening with lined voussoirs. Two-panelled door has glazed sidelights (with aprons). Consoles carry a timber entablature under a fanlight with roundel inset. Directly above is a 1/1 top-hung window to each upper floor. That to first floor has a run moulded architrave, and that to second floor is slightly diminished in height.

The right bay has a canted bay window rising full height, with canted natural slate roof tied into main roof and sharing common eaves. Each face of the bay window has a modern 1/1 timber window. Those to first floor have moulded architraves and those to second floor are slightly diminished in height.

A rendered dwarf wall and hedge enclose front garden. Modern gate.

Left gable fronts onto the town park and wet dashed and blank.

Right gable forms party wall with 3 Seaview (HB16/12/022B).

Rear elevation not inspected.

Although this end of terrace house has been altered, its height and scale is in keeping with the rest of the buildings along the sea front.
