Original thatched house demolished.
Historical information
A building is shown on the 1834 OS 6” map. However, it does not appear in the first Valuation (c.1835), indicating that its valuation was less than £5.
The First HMBB survey card states “Pre-1839. A single storey cottage with rendered and plastered walls, there are modern windows and a sheeted half door. The roof is thatched.”
The thatched house was demolished c.1979. The owner has a painting of the building showing it be three bays wide. Its thatched roof has masonry skews, a whitewashed masonry chimney on its left gable and another one between the central and right bays. The front elevation has a modern picture window to left bay and right bays, and a similar window and a door to the central bay.
