Historical information
A building is shown on the 1834 OS 6” map. However, it does not appear in the first Valuation (c.1835), indicating that its valuation was less than £5. First HMBB survey card states, “Pre 1833. A single storey cottage with roughcast and whitened walls. The roof is slated. Windows are double hung. The entrance is recessed in a square headed opening.”
The first survey slide shows the building to be three bays wide (the left one may be a later addition). The central and right bays are symmetrical with a central door flanked by single 2/2 vertically divided sliding sash windows. The left bay has a similar window to centre. Whitewashed chimney to either gable and one between left and central bays. To front is a small yard with wrought iron gate to field.
