Exterior description and setting

A single-storey/ three bay vernacular dwelling aligned N-S with right gable to road. It is in close proximity to another single-storey thatched dwelling to the NE (HB12/02/097).

Pitched corrugated-metal roof with half-round metal rainwater goods. Two brick chimneys – one between each bay. Walls are lime-rendered rubble stone.

Principal elevation faces E. Set to right of centre bay is a windbreak porch with monopitched corrugated metal roof. Its front face has a t+g door and left and right cheeks are blank. To its left is a top-hung metal-framed casement window with no cill. Left and right bays each have a 6/6 sliding sash window. Set to right of right bay is a window opening.

Left and right gables are blank.

Rear elevation has a window opening to centre bay.

Historical information

No building is shown on the 1834 map and only a small one on an E-W alignment is on the 1857 map. By 1907 it had assumed it present form. It is valued at £1 in the 1862 Valuation and was probably erected around 1860.

A single-storey, direct-entry vernacular dwelling with right gable to road, retaining much of its original fabric. Along with its neighbour (HB12/02/097) they form a pleasant roadside feature.
