Exterior description and setting

A much altered and raised, one-and-a-half storey / three bay vernacular house aligned N-S on a lane to the W of Teer Townland.

Pitched artificial slate roof, raised on four courses of concrete blocks over original eaves. There is a modern brick chimney at party wall between each bay. Boxed eaves with no rainwater goods. Walls are lime-rendered over rubble stone. All windows are timber and cills are stone.

Principal elevation faces E. Left bay has a modern timber side-hung casement window. Central bay has a 1/1 sliding sash window with horns to left and a modern timber door to right. Right bay has a modern timber fixed pane window.

Left gable has a 1/1 sliding sash at former apex.

Rear elevation has a timber sheeted door with glazed panel to left bay. To its right is a replacement fixed pane window. Central bay has a small 2x3 fixed pane window (without cill) set to left. Right bay has a 1/1 sliding sash to centre.

Right gable is abutted a lower lean-to outbuilding. Exposed section has a replacement fixed pane window to apex. The outbuilding is roofed (with corrugated metal) to left side only. Walls are rubble stone. Left cheek has a timber door to left and a 1/1 sliding sash window to right. Front face is blank. Right cheek has a window opening.

Historical information

A building, probably the existing one, is shown on the 1834 OS 6" map. It is valued at £1 in the 1862 second Valuation. It is probably of early 19th century date.
