Exterior description and setting

A single storey / three bay vernacular house, with outbuilding to left gable, aligned SW-NE and set parallel to the W side of the road at the N of Tonydrumallard Townland.

Pitched corrugated metal roof with a corbelled brick chimney to party wall between left and central bay. A timber eaves board supports plastic rainwater goods. Walls are whitewashed lime-rendered over random rubble stone. Windows are timber top-hung casements with stone cills unless otherwise stated.

Principal elevation faces SE. Left bay has a window to centre. Central bay has a windbreak porch to left and a window, in a painted reveal, to right. The porch has a monopitched painted cement roof with a t+g sheeted door to front face and blank side cheeks. Right bay has a t+g sheeted door to left, giving access to a shallow store, and a window to right.

Left gable is abutted by a lower outbuilding. The exposed section has a 2x1 metal side-hung casement window (no cill) to apex. The outbuilding is detailed as house. SE elevation has a t+g door set slightly to right of centre. Left gable is blank. Rear elevation is completely abutted by a concrete shed with a shallow monopitched roof (of no interest). Right gable abuts the main block.

Rear elevation is abutted to left of centre by a lean-to annexe (see later). Right bay has a 2/2 fixed metal-framed window with no cill. Central bay has a similar window (obscured by ivy), set just to right of centre. Left bay has a window to centre, detailed as façade but without cill. Directly above the annexe, and rising just to eaves level, is a small fixed pane window. The annexe has a monopitched corrugated metal roof sloping to W and concrete block walls. Rear face is blank. Right cheek has a 2x2 fixed pane window; left cheek has a top-hung timber casement to right and a timber door to left.

Right gable is abutted by a single storey outbuilding. The exposed section has a 6/6 exposed box sliding sash window to left side of apex. The outbuilding is detailed as house. It has a door opening to extreme left of SE face; all other elevations are blank.

Setting:
The house is mostly concealed from the road by a small maturely planted area to front. It is accessed from the road by a modern metal farm gate. To right is a modern farm complex; there is a small enclosed pasture to left.

Historical information

The valuation revision books suggest that this house was probably erected in 1908.
