The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a gentle S-facing slope with a small E-W stream c. 100m to the S. This is a square area in mixed woodland with slightly raised corners (dims 32m NE-SW; 32m NW-SE) defined by flat-bottomed moats (Wth of top 5.5-6.5m; Wth of base 3m; int. D 1.3-1.7m; ext. D 1.8m at SE to 3.5m at NW). There is a flat topped outer bank (Wth of base 6-7.5m; Wth of top 2-4.5m; ext. H 1.6-2.5m) on all sides and an external moat (Wth of base 4-5m) on the NE and NW sides containing water from a leat into the N corner, The outer moat is reduced to field drains at the SW and SE sides (max. ext. dims. 60m NW-SE; 58m NE-SW). There is a causeway (Wth 2.5m) across the inner moat on the NE side and a gap (Wth 2.6m) in the outer bank at the same point. (Barry 1977, 224. WX 89)
