The National Monuments Service's description
Identified in centre-line testing (E4110) in advance of the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy road scheme, and set aside for resolution as Corbally 5 (Hardy et al. 2010, 88-9). It is situated at the bottom of a slight N-facing slope with a small E-W stream c. 10m to the N, and it was fully excavated (E4237) by C. Hardy as three large pits (dims 3m NW-SE; 1.5m NE-SW; D 0.4m: 1.7m N-S; 1.5m E-W; D 0.26m: 4.36m N-S; 1.05m E-W; D 0.15-0.5m), four smaller pits (dims 0.56m x 0.56m; D 0.16m to 1.1m x 0.4m; D 0.16m), four post-holes and a stake-hole in a concentrated area (dims 8m NW-SE; 6m NE-SW). Two of the large pits had fire-reddened bases and all had elements of charcoal in their fill. The only artefact recovered was a chert knife from the longest pit. The fulacht fia (WX020-115001-) and hut-site (WX020-115002-) are c. 80-100m to the SSE, and the hearth (WX020-113----) in Toom is c. 120m to the N. (Hardy 2012; 2013)
