Situated on a slight slope, in gently undulating pasture, with extensive views to S and overlooking Lough Drin c. 215m to NW. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a pentagonal-shaped earthwork. Annotated 'fort' on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map where it is depicted as a circular-shaped enclosure. Depicted on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map as a roughly oval-shaped earthwork (approx. dims. 51m NW-SE; 54m NE-SW). Levelled monument described in 1970 as no surface remains visible. Outline of monument clearly visible on Digital Globe aerial photography as an oval-shaped cropmark defined by a perimeter of differential growth which appears to delineate a backfilled fosse.
