The National Monuments Service's description
On a very gentle W-facing slope overlooking a stream. The remains of the church (WI047-006001-) and enclosure (WI047-006002-) are depicted on the 1838 OS 6-inch map and named 'Site of Kilcavan Church'. A crude Latin cross (H 0.45m; Wth 0.4m; D 0.23m) has been incorporated into the N-face of the field boundary immediately S of the church. The field boundary (H 1m) is constructed of earth faced with stone with a ditch (Wth at top 2m; Wth at base 1.1m) running along the N side, the cross has been re-used as stone facing and is 0.3m above the ground level.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
