The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a very gentle W-facing slope overlooking a stream, in pasture. The church and enclosure (WI047-006002-) depicted on the 1838 OS 6-inch map and named 'Site of Kilcavan Church'. The remains were described in the OS Letters (1838) as a pile of stones (O'Flanagan 1928, 38). An area of raised ground appears to indicate the location of the church. A crude Latin cross (WI047-006003-) has been incorporated in the field boundary immediately to the S of the church.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
