The National Monuments Service's description

Located on the floodplain of the River Suir. First identified in centre-line testing (02E0441) by Ian Russell of Archaeological Consultancy Services in advance of the Waterford city by-pass (Russell 2006a). Fully excavated (03E0409) by Aidan O'Connell of ACS as Woodstown 5. A burnt mound (diam. c. 15m; T 0.25m) overlay an oval unlined trough (dims. 1.53m NE-SW; 0.92m NW-SE; D 0.44m) associated with a gully, and a rectangular, clay-lined trough (dims. 2.12m NW-SE; 1.55m NE-SW; D 0.64m). The hearth (WA009-024----) is probably associated with it. (O'Connell 2006c; O'Connell and Ginn 2011a)
