The National Monuments Service's description
Associated with a 17th-century house (TS078-037001-) which lies c. 60m to the WSW, this bakehouse lies c. 50m ENE of Kilcash tower house (TS078-037----). The bakehouse is constructed of sandstone rubble, roughly coursed. It appears to be single-storey with high attic, and deep recess on the gable wall to carry the roof timbers. Only most of the E gable (L 6.15m; T 0.66m; H c. 5.5m) and all the N wall (L 17.68m) survive above ground. At attic level there is a large rectangular window in the E gable. A large brick-lined wall oven (int. dims. Wth 2.13; D 1.55; H 0.6m) projects externally as a semi-circular structure from the E wall (ext. dims. 2.9m N-S; 2.7m E-W). The wall oven has a double skin construction, the outer skin may have been added later as the inner skin has a well-preserved rough limestone harl on its outer face, only patches of which survive on the outer skin.
