The National Monuments Service's description

In a horse paddock, on a S-facing slope. A circular area (dims. 30m N-S; 32m E-W) defined by the remains of a levelled bank (overall Wth 7.5m; Wth at top 3.4m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.2m) from WNW-N-NE and scarp (Wth 1.5m; H 0.8m) from NE-E-ESE and WSW-W and the remains of a fosse (overall Wth 4.05m; basal Wth 1.2m; D 0.45m) are best preserved in the SE and SW quadrants. The scarp (Wth 3.4m; H 2.55m) is steepest downslope to the S. The fosse (overall Wth 7.05m; basal Wth 2.25m; D 0.15m) is poorly defined SE-S-WSW and is shallow (overall Wth 8.8m; basal Wth 4.5m; D 0.35m) W-N-NE, where it is obvious as a green band of differential growth. An old septic tank abuts the NE quadrant and percolates downslope into the fosse at ENE. The interior slopes gently to the S and there is an ESB pole off-centre to W. Knockkelly House lies c. 6m to the N. A deciduous forestry plantation surrounds from the ENE-S-W at a distance of 10m.
