The National Monuments Service's description
Lying in the choir of the cathedral (TS061-025003-) on the Rock of Cashel. The lower half of a weathered slab (L 1.04m; Wth 0.69m; T 0.09m) decorated with a cross-shaft, with three cross-bands above a pillar-base form (Maher 1997, 71). An latin inscription, in Black Letter script occurs along the dexter and sinister sides (ibid.). It was translated by FitzGerald (1901-03, vol. 5, 439) as, 'one the one side can be traced:- "...[IACO]BI CANTUELL] QUI OBIIT QUARTO DIE NOUEMBRIS ...." And on the other:- ".... EIUS UXOR QUI OBIIT...."'. Which Maher (1997, 439) translates as 'Jacob Cantwell who died the 4th day of November.....his wife who died.....'.
