The National Monuments Service's description
In Derryvella bog, this structure (Wth 0.04-0.1m; D 0.34m; L 23.2m) was visible at two sightings, 21m apart, on opposing fields. Only three elements remained, suggesting that this was the remains of a structure that was orientated SW-NE across this part of the bog. The eastern sighting consisted of two pegs (diam. 0.02-0.07m) which were located 1.7m apart and appeared to be orientated E-W. The tops of the elements were poorly preserved due to prolonged exposure to machinery on the field surface. The western sighting consisted of a single peg (diam. 0.04m) protruding from a drain face. It was machine damaged but in a moderate state of preservation. All the pegs had an inclination axis measuring 60°. The underlying peat was composed of poorly humified sphagnum peat with occasional calluna and eriophorum inclusions. A single piece of wood was identified as hazel.
