The National Monuments Service's description
On flat poorly drained marshy land with good views in all directions. Indicated on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map as 'Site of Old Court'. A slightly raised rectangular-shaped platform (int. dims. 40m NE-SW; 22m NW-SE) enclosed by a broad, poorly defined, earthen bank (base Wth 7m; top Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.5-2.5m) and well-defined, narrow, wet moat (Base Wth 1.7m; top Wth 4.5m; ext. D 1.9m) with a possible causewayed entrance (Wth 3m) at the SE. Gaps in the bank at the NW and NE are possibly the result of cattle poaching. There are several low undulating earthworks inside the well-preserved interior which may indicated house foundations or internal boundaries. The moat running along the NW side has been reused as a field drain and a modern road intersects the outer fosse at the E angle of the moat along its NE side.
