The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a slight rise at the base of the SE-facing slope of a ridge, in pasture, overlooking a valley. A circular area, containing large limestone outcrop towards the centre of the SE quadrant, enclosed by a bank (Wth 2.3m; int. H 0.43m; ext. H 2.07m), a broad, dry, flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 5.8m; D 1m) and a stony outer bank (Wth 2.6m; ext. H 0.67m). A trackway cuts through the S half of the interior, in an E-W direction. The presence of outcrop near the centre of the site challanges its interpretation as a ringfort.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
