The National Monuments Service's description
Situated towards the base of a NE-facing slope of Conneen hill, overlooking a river valley extending NW-SE. A red sandstone orthostat (H 0.84m; dims. 1m x 0.34m) aligned NE-SW, sloping to apex at SE. Tufts of grass at base but no evidence of packing-stones. A slight depression around the base of the stone is possibly due to cattle trampling.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
