The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in a river valley with the river nearby to the S. A raised circular area defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.9m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.4m) mainly reduced to a scarp and a U-shaped external fosse (Wth 5m). A large quantity of scrub clearance and dead wood is dumped in the NW quadrant and the fosse is infilled in this sector. A NNW-SSE field boundary clips the site at SW-W.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
