The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the crest of a hill, sloping very slightly to the SE. A circular, grass-covered, raised area (diam. 38m N-S; 39.4m E-W) defined by a poorly preserved inner bank (Wth 4.4m; int. H 0.13m; ext. H 1.74m) and an external fosse (Wth 4.6m; D 0.35m) not visible at W. The bank is much denuded and reduced to a scarp in places. A gap (Wth 4m) in the NE quadrant represent the original entrance. The interior has a slight rise towards the W half.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
