The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in very prominent position on top of a hillock, in undulating terrain under pasture with a ringfort (TN023-025) visible c. 80m to the W. A circular area (diam. 28m N-S; 28.8m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.86-1.86m) with a slight suggestion of an outer fosse (Wth 1.9m; D 0.4m) at W only and a possible causewayed entrance (Wth 3.5m) at SW. The site is unusual in its defensive positon and lack of enclosing bank.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
