The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a natural rise of land sloping to the SE in very undulating terrain. A natural hillock which has been truncated to form a ringfort. The present remains consist of a circular enclosure (diam. 33m N-S and E-W) delimited by a substantial earth and stone bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.8m) and outer fosse (Wth 3.3m; D 0.2m). The interior slopes very gradually to the SE with the natural slope of the land. The entrance (Wth 2.8m) at E is defined by a large boulder on the N side (dims. 1.4m L x 0.7m H x 0.85m D) and a much smaller boulder on the S side (dims. 0.63m L x 0.44m H x 0.5m D).
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
