The National Monuments Service's description

Situated in wet, marshy terrain at the base of a NE-facing slope. Depicted as a small square-shaped area on the 1st ed. (1840) OS 6-inch map while on the 1904 ed., the SE side of the enclosure is marked as a field boundary. A poorly preserved rectangular enclosure (dims. 19m N-S; c. 25m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.56m; ext. H 1.1m) which has been reduced to a scarp at W, and an outer fosse (Wth 2.6m; D 0.6m). The site has been extensively damaged in recent times by machinery used in connection with tree-planting. The bank at N and the scarp at W have been badly damaged and a trench has been cut through the interior from W to E. The site has been cleared of scrub which is piled up at the E end. Deciduous saplings have been planted within the enclosure. Several drainage trenches have been excavated immediately N and W of site.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
