The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a gentle SE-facing slope on a slight natural rise in low-lying undulating, reclaimed pastureland; the land immediately NW of the hillock is quite marshy. The site was identified as a circular enclosure on an aerial photograph (GSIAP, S 83/2). Present remains consist of a circular area (diam. 29m N-S; 31.4m E-W) enclosed by an inner bank (Wth 3.7m; int. H 0.07m; ext. H 0.24m), a fosse (Wth 3.6m; D 0.17m) and an outer bank (Wth 4.9m; ext. H 0.2m) visible in the SW sector. In the NE quadrant the fosse has been recut as part of a ditch and the corresponding field bank kinks out, probably incorporating part of the original outer bank.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
