The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on the W edge of a ridge sloping gradually to the S, in pasture. A central area (diam. 43.7m E-W) defined by a scarped edge (H 2.45m), a wide, deep fosse (Wth 8.2m; D 3.71m), a bank (Wth 4.7m; ext. H 1.9m), a concave berm (Wth 19.2m), an outer bank (Wth 1.7m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.4) and a shallow external fosse (Wth 3.8m; D 0.45m). There is a possible entrance in the NE with gaps in the inner banks and a causeway over the deep fosse. The opening through the outer bank is quite crude which might indicate that outer bank is a later feature.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
