The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a very gradual N-facing slope surrounded by tillage. A circular area (diam. 27m N-S; 29.5m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.85m; ext. H 1.8m) and a fosse (Wth 5m; D 0.9m) with a slight counterscarp bank (Wth 2m; ext. H 0.3m). The bank and fosse have been subjected to a lot of dumping of clay, stone and wood. Mature trees grow in the interior, including beech, oak and ash. A field bank abuts the site in the NE and SW quadrants.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
