The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a NW-facing slope in undulating terrain. A circular area (diam. c. 22m) surrounded by a high, substantial earthen bank (Wth 2.8m; int. H 1m; ext. H 0.62m) with no visible fosse at ground level. There are high mounds of dumped wood and vegetal debris in the interior at N and E while uprooted trees and scrub have been deposited against the external face of the bank. This appears to represent the remains of an outer bank which was recently levelled.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
