The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a break in a W-facing slope in meadow. Depicted as a circular enclosure on both 1st and latest ed. OS 6-inch maps, with a pathway extending E-W along the N side of the site. This pathway remains with slight curving kink where it respected the N portion of the site. Slight traces of a fosse are visible in the SE quadrant although the site has been levelled. It was still intact when visited in 1957 and was described as being a slightly oval area (diam. 40.5m N-S; 36m E-W) surrounded by an earthen bank (Wth 1.2m; int. H 0.48m; ext. H 1.5m) and external fosse (Wth 2.4m; D 0.9m) (OPW Correspondence, 2.8.1957).

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
