The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on a S-facing slope. A raised circular area (diam. 25m) enclosed by a grass-covered stone wall (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1m) built of large limestone blocks with a rubble core. An external terrace (Wth 8m) is defined by a scarp (H c. 1.2m) W-NW and E-SSW. Collapsed stone walls radiate out from the perimeter of the cashel to the edge of the scarp at SSW and SSE. The S half of the interior is raised c. 2m to compensate for the hillslope. There is a souterrain (SL038-061002-) in the NW quadrant of the interior. According to local information, this cashel was used as a children's burial ground (SL038-061003-).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
