The National Monuments Service's description
Located in flat, damp lowlying rush-grown pasture, c. 570m N of the NW shoreline of Lough Gill.
This burnt mound is evident as a low subcircular rise (15m N−S; 16m E−W; H 0.65m at E, 0.4m at W). The mound is composed of a concentration of angular stone fragments in black soil. It is most clearly defined on the E side, where there is a slight drop in ground level, but elsewhere the mound grades seamlessly into the surrounding field surface. A covering of bright green grass, and an absence of rushes, distinguishes it from the rough, rushy sward of the surrounding field.
It is more than likely a fulacht fia, which has been partly levelled in the past; no clearly defined trough depression is visible.
There are two burnt mounds (SL015-133----; SL015-134----) in the adjoining field c. 175m to N.
Notified to NMS by Leo Leyden.
