The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, located at the W end, on the N side, of Ballinlig point, a narrow finger of land that juts into the NW side of Ballysadare Bay. A layer (L c. 2m E–W; D 0.2m) of shells, in a matrix of dark brown soil, is exposed in an eroding section face at the edge of a field on the shoreline. The midden layer is composed of a dense concentration of oyster shells, with a few periwinkles and cockle shells also visible. It lies beneath a layer of sod (D 0.01m) and overlies sterile gravelly orange brown silty soil. There is another midden (SL013-087002-) located c. 200m to E.
