The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on the N side of Ballinlig point, a narrow finger of land that juts into the NW end of Ballysadare Bay. A layer (D 0.15-0.3m) of shells in a matrix of dark brown soil is exposed in an section face on the shoreline. It underlies sod (D 0.01m) and a layer of humic soil (D 0.2m). The midden layer is composed predominately of oyster shells. A few periwinkles shells, mussel shells and flecks of charcoal are also visible. When inspected in 1994 the layer was exposed for a lenght of 25m. When visited in 2013 it could be traced intermittently for of c. 15m WNW-ESE. There is a midden (SL013-087001-) located c. 80m to SE, and another midden (SL013-124----) c. 200m to W.
