The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, at the SE tip of Ballinlig point, a narrow finger of land that juts into the W end of Ballysadare Bay, and overlooks a small river estuary to S. A layer (L c. 8m NE–SW; D 0.3m) of shells in a matrix of dark brown soil is exposed in section, immediately below the sod line, on the eroding E end of the peninsula. The midden has accumulated against the S-facing slope of a ridge and may extend beneath the sod for c. 6m to W of the exposed section. It is composed of a dense concentration of oyster shells, with a few periwinkles and cockle shells also visible. There is a hut site (SL013-087003-) c. 7m to W and another hut site (SL013-087003-) c. 10m to SW. There is another midden (SL013-087002-) located c. 80m to NW.
