The National Monuments Service's description
On a S-facing slope. Archaeological excavation (E3270) during 2007 at Ardagawna 1 as part of the Athlone to Ballinasloe N6 road development revealed a small structure as a penannular trench (ext. dims 2.8m N-S; 2.75m E-W). The trench (Wth c. 0.4m; D 0.3m) had an irregular base and produced a piece of worked flint, while the opening faced N. It may have been associated with the ring-ditch (RO052-031001-), c. 22m to the SSE, but the corn-drying kiln (RO052-031002-), the burial (RO052-031003-) and three furnaces (RO052-031005-), within c. 30m of it are probably unrelated.
